Resignations – Announcements made for following resignations:

Ian Seecof, LDR, Jim Teegarden – President and Youth Chair, Angela Minnefield - Masters, Mark Rodriguez – Men’s Open Div Chair.

 

III.               Financial Report

Announced that there is a depotsit not posted to the account due to unclear reporting by Youth Chair from 2004 Youth JO Championship meet. Cheryl Sunman reported that Youth Chair opened a separate account for meet registrations that was not approved by USATF treasurer. Cheryl is attempting to obtain additional receipts to clarify the accounting. 

 

IV.              Committee Reports

  1. Youth

Youth Indoor T&F Champs held @ Purdue Univ on 2/21/04. Approx. 100 participants.

JO Champs held on 6/19 w/ over 400 athletes. Region VII JO Champs held 7/8-11 @ N. Central H.S., Indpls. Indy's Racing Cheetahs hosted both JO meets.

'A few more than 50 athletes and 13 relay teams represented IN Association @ 05 National JO T&F Champs. Rachel Deloney of Indiana Track Club was a double National Champ in the SP and Discus. IN had 10 individuals and 1 relay team finish in top 8.

2005 National JO Champs will be @ IUPUI 7/26-31

2004 Region VII Cross Country Champs will be Nov. 20 @ IPFW, Ft. WaynE

 

B. Masters

Masters Report submitted in written form by Angela Minnefield, Masters Chair.

INUSATF hosted IN Masters T&F champs @ N.Central H.S. Sat, 6/19/04 w/ 59 participants

Masters meet started following Youth JO meet @ 2:30 pm w/ field events and running events @4pm. Each running event contested as final, no trials. Each field event competitor had 4 attempts. Athletes responsible for own throwing implements. Full Concession on Site.

IN Association Medals awarded to top 3 individuals and ribbons for 4th - 6th place given to athletes not part of IN USATF. Events: PV,SP,LJ,JV,D,100m,200m,200m,800m,1500m,3000mWalk,5000m-Men

E. Race Walk

Cheryl Sunman submitted written report summarized below:

7 race series reduced to 4 events for 2004. Southern IN Race walkers not able to secure track for June event and in-sufficient Pre-registration for August planned event.The 20 km road walk planned for November has been cancelled due to lack of interest.  Combined IN Association and North Region race walks had 9 participants compete on 5/1/2004. Results of 3000m Masters walks held on 6/19 will be used to figure points for the second race in the series. Four walkers participated in the 5000m track race walk champs. on 7/19.  Fourth and final event in 04 race walk series will be 10 km road champs on 10/31.  All except masters event were or will be held at Franklin Central Schools in Indpls. F. LDR – Ian Seecof

Announced resignation – due to lack of support from Indiana runners –

Ian felt IN runners don’t have incentive to join USATF due to success of local Race Promoters

 

G. Disabled

Joanne Mitchell submitted a written report, summarized below:

In 2004 had 3 athletes approach for paperwork to compete in Paralympics in Athens. Needed local Disabled Athletics Certified Official to sign paperwork to compete.

USATF did well in Paralympics in Athens.Had 2 I T O's from US represent U.S. as officials. - John Stevens and Paul Burdine.

 

VI. Admin Reports

a.      Membership – Judy Wilson would like for USATF to pay $500 for intern to assist with membership services

Judy expressed that she can’t handle all of the calls as well as membership duties i.e. computer entry.

Question was raised about job descriptions. Finance committee to discuss with Jane documented letter of agreement

b.      Officials – Keith Mitchell Reported

- Started Recertification process. Had one meeting at Indiana State University on Sep 9th. Had over 50 Officials attend - 25 New, 25 renewing. Have another meeting scheduled at Valparaiso Univ on 10/24.  Working on dates for IU, Notre Dame & Purdue.

Locally, there is difficulty getting officials to work meets in IN Champs and local meets.

c.      Coach’s Education  - Angela Martin reported for John Gartland.

One Level I school planned for 2004 in IN, @ Valpo. Univ 10/22-24/04.  Tyler Wingard, Head Coach of Valparaiso Univ. will be school Director.

National USATF Coaches Ed. Staff feels only one coaches school per year is better than two (IN-USATF held 2 successful schools in 2003)

Most difficulty in hosting LI schools is lack of certified instructors. When more instructors are in IN, we'll be able to offer more LI schools in a variety of places.

VII. Elections

  1. Board of Directors

Nominations and elections were held for Board of Directors. The following were elected to board for a 3-year term:

Judy Wilson, John Gartland, Angela Nealy, Cheryl Sunman, Anthony Davis and Larry Henning. 

Kenny Franklin was elected for 2 years and Thomas McLean for 1 year.

Committee Chair Appointments

The following appointments were made for             INUSATF Board Committee Positions:

Male Open Chair – Kenny Franklin

Women Open Chair – Angela Martin

LDR – Mark Doctor

Youth Chair – Harry Edwards and JoAnn Grissom

Masters Chair – Christine Davis was nominated by Anthony Davis (Christine was not in attendance); position is still open.

 

 

VIII. Old Business

Thomas Mclean – 2005 Jr. Olympic Committee Chair

2005 J.O. Champs will be held July 26-31, 2005 in Indianapolis

Expect 7,000 athletes, 9500 parents/friends/family, 9,000 room nights, 30 National Records

Event is joint with Illinois USATF leading the bidding.

IN USATF clubs will be offered opportunities to help with vending and clean-up as fundraisers. Disabled athletes will compete on 1st 2 days.

 

XI. New Business

 

Cheryl announced can get $500 credit for USATF tent which would bring price to $169.

Motion was passed and 2nd to purchase tent

 

Judy Wilson suggested paying student $500 to help with Member services.

Motion passed and seconded

 

Liability Insurance for Board of Directors – topic brought up by Thomas McLean in response to discrepancy in Youth account.  Will be addressed by Exec. Committee.

 

 

XII. Other Business

  2. National Meeting

Will be held December 4th. Up to 11-12 delegates may be sent by IN USATF to national meeting

A request was made for those interested in attending the National USATF Meeting. We can send 12 delegates. The following volunteered:

Angela Martin, John Gartland, Judy Wilson (IU), Cheryl Sunman, Keith and Joann Mitchell, Dave Bowers, Greg Harger (alternate), Angela Nealy, JoAnn Grissom, Mark Doctor.  Keith indicated Bob Kuyoth would like to attend also.

Elite athlete rep to be determined. 

 

The Executive Committee will make recommendation for expenses to be covered in addition to the registration cost.

 

The Executive Committee consists of the president, VP, secy, treasure and 3 volunteers.  JoAnn Grissom, Ian Seecof and Dave Bowers volunteered for the committee.

 

Greg Harger of Invaders announced Mark Springer had serious auto accident and currently in intensive care – a card was passed around for signing

Also announced successful Club Championships. Had Olympic Trials Qualification marks set.
